1000 La Trobe Street is a high-density commercial development located on the south side of the Digital Harbour precinct in Melbourne’s Docklands.  GbLA have led the development of the landscape masterplan, design development and construction documentation, whilst also providing contract administration support throughout the construction of the landscape works.  The site extents encapsulated the LaTrobe Street public urban realm, northern plaza and other building periphery interfaces where we worked closely with Architect Woods Bagot and other core members of the consultant team.

The landscape response connected with the overall design theming of a historical connection to Melbourne’s former rail yards through the idea of rail as a form generator.  The overall proposal was developed within a complex planning review and approval framework involving both the City of Melbourne and Development Victoria as key stakeholders.  The challenges of micro-climate, grading, equitable access, loading, drainage and water sensitive design were all accommodated over a podium slab.
